Working on Yourself is a Must if You Want to Succeed in the EFT Business. Without it, you will be less effective and more vulnerable to the emotional swings of vicarious or secondary trauma. A few weeks ago I had a very upset client come into my office to tell me off! I rent an office inside the East West Bookshop in Seattle one day each week. I began seeing clients there when I had a consistent client base in the city. (We advocate keeping overhead expenses low when you first start your EFT business.) My practitioner suite is a private room in the back of the store with sliding name plates on the door; one has my name on it and the other reads “in session”. My door is kept open between sessions.

There has been a lot written about the importance of finding a core issue. In fact, my ability to find core issues quickly is something people often say about my work. Core issues are your assumptions about the world and who you are. It’s often reflected in the way you behave. Often they are subconscious and hidden to you. One of the things I love about EFT is it’s ability to jog the subconscious mind and allow ideas and concepts to come to the forefront of consciousness. Core issues are the framework of your reality-
EFT utilizes several concepts that are aspects of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, or NLP. One of the most important concepts, especially when working on life challenges, is the idea of congruence. Congruence could be defined as “rapport within oneself, or internal and external consistency.” Another simple way of thinking about it is the compliance between your ideal self and your actual self. I also think that the larger societal conversation about the need for authenticity is very resonant with this concept of congruence.
